It started in Armidale, 1978
Bourkes Florist & Gift Centre opened in Armidale, NSW in 1978 — founded by Harold Bourke, a man remembered as much for his warmth as for his flowers. For years his shop was a local landmark, its black-and-gold logo unmistakable: the florist Armidale came back to for every birthday, every anniversary and every goodbye, with customers who stayed loyal to Harold for decades.
When the original store was eventually sold and closed, that first chapter came to an end. But like the flowers we love, Bourkes has bloomed again — reborn as an online florist carrying the same family promise: the freshest blooms, hand-arranged by skilled partner florists and delivered the same day, right across Australia.

Harry Bourke
Harry grew up around the family flower business — Bourkes Florist & Gift Centre, opened by his grandfather Harold Bourke in Armidale, NSW in 1978. Long after the original store had closed, Harry brought the name back to life as an online florist, carrying the family promise into a new era: the freshest blooms, hand-arranged by skilled partner florists and delivered the same day, right across Australia.
He writes the Bourkes Journal to help people send something genuinely thoughtful — not just a bunch of flowers.
